Book review: More Wishing-Chair Stories
“More Wishing-Chair Stories’ written by Enid Blyton is an interesting story about the fantastic adventures of Mollie and Peter with their pixie friend, Chinky, on the Wishing Chair.
Mollie and Peter begin their adventures with the Wishing Chair since they rescued a pixie, Chinky. Since then, they have been good friends and been traveling together.
This time Mollie and Peter are home for the mid-term break and Chinky and the Wishing Chair are ready to fly away with them to fun and magical lands. They visit many wonderful places such as the Land Of Wishes (where all their wishes come true) and Topsy- Turvy land (where it is very funny). But perhaps the most thrilling of all is helping Santa Claus deliver the presents on Christmas Eve!
I enjoyed reading this book. I like the places Mollie and Peter went, but of course, I would not want to go to Land Of Scally-Wags(where everyone do bad deeds like telling lies, stealing) as I want to be a good girl. The writer described the places and feelings so clearly that I thought I was in the adventures with Mollie and Peter.
I hope to go to Land Of Wishes so I can make a lot wishes and have all of them come true. I hope young children who read this book will enjoy it. I look forward to reading more of these books.

‘The Kidnapped King’
‘The Kidnapped King” is a mystery novel written by Ron Roy. The story is about 3 kids by the name of Dink Duncan, Josh Pinto and Ruth Rose. One day, after school, Dink received news from his mother that a visitor will be coming for a stay in his house for 2 weeks. The visitor’s name is Sammi Bin Oz and is a prince that will ascend the throne of his father—the king when he comes to the right age. Dink also learnt that Sammi’s parents which the queen and king have been kidnapped by kidnappers and the kidnappers wants to kidnap him too. (I don’t quite understand this part.) So, he comes to Dink’s house for safety.
In the evening, Sammi’s tuition teacher comes over to teach him French language. Dink accompanies him and learnt a French Word ‘Juan’ which means yellow in English. But, Dink pronounces it as Joan like the teacher’s name.
Next morning, when Dink wakes up, he finds out that Sammi’s room has been trespassed; he immediately dials the police number. Then, the three kids begins to help the police solve the mystery. Ruth Rose finds many yellow glass pieces on the ground and immediately jots it down in her note book. By 12 noon, they still cannot solve the mystery. So, they go to Ellie’s kitchen for a bite.
They ordered 3 hamburgers, 3 bottle of fizzy drinks and 3 cups of yellow sundae ice-cream. After finishing the food, they slurped down the ice-cream. Suddenly, Dink thinks of the French word he had learnt last night. Yellow pieces in French are ‘Juan’ and he pronounces it as ‘Joan’ which is the tuition teacher’s name. Is it a key to the clue?
I like this book as it is rather interesting and mysterious. I would recommend it to children of all ages. It has black and white pictures to show us what actually happened. It will be easier for us children as the illustrations are very clear. I hope everyone will enjoy the book.

The case of the golden slipper
The case of the golden slipper is an exciting and interesting story. It is written by Melinda Metz. The story starts when two detectives, Mary-Kate and Ashley were invited to a ball at Georgia, the marsdon mansion, old river from a thirteen-year old princess, called Glorianna. They are required to stay the mansion for a whole weekend before the ball starts.
.Before the ball started, something terrible happened! The princess was kinapped!Mary-kate and Ashley went to search for clues and suspected Milo, the flimer,Serena,Glorianna cousin and the duke who was Glorrianna uncle.
Milo was suspected by Mary-kate and Ashley as they found a smoke bomb in his drawer his room. As a fire happened at Glorianna’s room before Glorianna was kidnapped,Mary-kate suspected that Milo used the smoke-bomb to light up a fire which was actually only smoke. They found out that it was smoke as all the things in Glorianna’s room was nto burnt at all! They also found a smoke bombinside a small metal trash can in Glorianna’s room.
Serena was being suspected for being jealous with Glorianna and acting like a princess after Glorianna was kidnapped.
The duke was being suspected by mary-kate as his royal bank account had been closed, which meant that he had no more money and he could be asking for a ransom for the princess.
Finally, Mary-kate and Ashley found out that Glorianna wanted to be a normal child and had went to the amusement park which everyone mistaken it for kidnapping. No one at the amusement park recognized her as Glorianna had took Jen’s sweatshirt, another girl who was invited andjeans ,sunglasses and a baseball cap from other girls who were invited.Glorianna even took Serena’s orange sneakers.
Finally, Glorianna was found.Mary-kate and Ashley was rewarded when Glorianna made a announcement that Mary-kate and Ashley were chosen for a special royal security team and they will be responsible for Glorianna’s safety whenever Glorianna traveled to America.
The story is fun and interesting and has a lot of twists. There are also other series of the same two detectives in this story. I would recommend this story to people who liked mysteries. You can find the series of mary-kate and Ashley in the national library.

Glenn's Japan Trip
Hi Ms Lee
My parents brought me to Japan for 7 days. We covered Osaka, Kyoto, Toyohashi, Mt Fuji & Tokyo. It was an enjoyable trip. Attached are some of my photos during the trip. Still got some video clips but file too big, unable to send. Have you been there before? Hope you’ll enjoy seeing my photos.
Regards
Glenn

Water Spout Sightings

On 25th May, many people saw this phenomenon which looks like a twister or tornado near the east coast area. It is actually not a rare sighting (my husband saw one when he was surfing out at sea during his teenage years), water spouts happen once or twice a year.
It is actually a narrow spout of water being sucked up to the base of a certain kind of clouds (cumuliform clouds) during thunderstorms as there is low pressure below the cloud.
Water spouts are known to dissipate rapidly near the coastal area and would usually not cause any harm or damage.

Financial Carnival
Hi Children,
Glenn asked for the details regarding the financial carnival.
This information was given to me via email.
I believed you would have received a consent form from Mrs Judy Wong. If your name is in the list and you have not received the consent form, please look for Mrs Wong.
The ten children from your class has been split into two groups and the other pupils are from a primary 5 class.
MAHABODHI 1
Bryan Hang Jianxiang
Jarran Tay Yu Xiang
Osel Pan Jue Wen
Lillian Lin Zhen
Sou Ci Xuan
Mak Wei Zhi
Zhang Yiqi
Darren Ho
Kan Zi Wei
Lim Xiao Qi
MAHABODHI 2
Glenn Lee
Julian Wong Zi Zhao
Heidi Kang Xue Han
Fiona Ng
Tan Li Ching
Tay Wan Rong
Gladys Ng
Chua Kai Hui
Sng Ler Jun
Raelene Leong Sue Hui
Some points I've picked up from the email.
1. The financial carnival is designed specially for students in the hope that they will learn some basic money management knowledge and skills through fun and play.
2. The bus will reach MBS at 1 pm to pick up students and teachers. The bus is scheduled to reach Dunman High School at 2 pm (Our address is 53 Mount Sinai Road, Singapore 276880).
At the end of the carnival at 5.30 pm, the bus will fetch students and teachers back to MBS. The estimated time of arrival at MBS is 6.15 pm.
3. Each student will be given a goodie bag upon arrival. It will contain reading materials, stationary as well as a piece of pastry and a bottle of mineral water. Given the tight schedule, there can only be a ten-minute break in between the carnival. Hence, please ensure that students eat their lunch before boarding the bus.
Hope this would give you a clearer picture.
Enjoy the carnival.
