hi osel!
nice to see you here. Just to answer your question, yes there should be creatures in sinkholes.
Sinkholes are basically just normal soil but the surface soil has collapsed because there were spaces beneath the ground. These spaces are created because certain minerals (like limestone) is being dissolved by rain water. The top soil collapsed into the spaces when its weight could no longer be supported. Florida has many sinkholes because of the composition of its soil. You can find out more about sinkholes from this website. Its easier to read and there are pictures to explain the formation of sinkholes.

one of the places that have sinkholes is florida!

ziyi

misslee said...

Yes you're right Ziyi.
Sinkholes are created when the ground collapse and naturally there would be a lot of soil around that area. When rainfall mixes with the soil, it might look muddy. Glaciers are basically just very biggggg pieces of ice! They are made of water, so it looks clean and beautiful!

nowonder the glacier's water looks so blue....

Anonymous said...

won't people fall into the sinkholes if they collaspe naturally?

nickname is zy

Anonymous said...

Miss Lee,
Why is it that at East coast beach the water is green while the water in the glaciers are blue? They are both filled with water

Anonymous said...

zy, the damage (to property or human life) caused by sinkholes are dependent on a few factors. 1) The size. Some sinkholes are large, some are small. 2) The speed of the collapse. Some sinkholes occur gradually, some in a matter of minutes. 3) The things above ground. It might not be a residential area or no one is occupying the land.

Sinkholes might also form as a result of man made activities. Please check out the wikipedia site!
